Women lifting weights?

I am on a diet and started to lift weights. I am only doing ten pounds right now. My question is I am lifting to tone not bulk up how many pounds should I lift and how much a day just to tone? How much is to much for a woman?

Unfortunately women are fed a lot of misinformation. You wont “bulk up” without going absolutely hardcore (and/or taking steroids) – you just don’t have the testosterone to do that. The light weights/high reps routine isn’t that effective because your body isn’t being stretched and so you wont see results as quicky. At the same time however, if you’re not used to lifting weights you need to ease yourself into it to let your body adapt to the lifestyle change.
