Interview Part 1: The Basics

My name is Jennifer Sheridan. My birthplace is unknown, but I was born on July 8th. I don’t remember my parents much. Most of my memories are of visiting Mom in the hospital. I’ve stayed with many relatives, but Clara’s really the only close family I have. She can be irresponsible and trouble, but she’s really her own person, and doesn’t bend to anyones will. She’s strong like that, and it’s a strength I find I’ve come to rely on. All I can do for her in return is to be there for her.
After all the moves from relative to relative, Clara and I have found our place in an orphanage. It’s not that bad of a place, but all the other orphans are much younger than us. I help homeschool them as a means of thanks for being allowed to say there.
I’m 17 years old. My height is five feet and four inches. My weight? Let’s see, I’m right-handed, I have green eyes, and my hair is blond, long. Well, usually it’s long. At one time I was with a horrible person who was posing as a relative, and my hair had to be cut short. I don’t like how my hair looks so short. My style of dress often gravitates to anything cute. I’ll usually wear a skirt or a dress, but sometimes pants or shorts are fine.
My social class is sadly unsophisticated. I spend a lot of time around kids. Detective Daniel, on the other hand, is very sophisticated, and can participate strongly in a conversation. Sometimes I’ll visit him when I just want to be around someone I could hold a good conversation with, even if we don’t actually talk about anything.
I only know of one thing I’m allergic to, and it’s a big thing. I’m allergic to "yellow No. 5". A lot of people think it’s actually a small thing when they hear it, but do you know how many processed foods are colored using yellow No. 5? I have to be very carefully around foods, and reading ingredient labels is very important for me. Otherwise, I’m not much for sports. I can’t run far without needing to stop and rest. I’m clumsy and can trip while walking over a smooth floor with nothing on it. I have no strength to speak of, so Clara handles all heavy lifting for me.
I think my voice makes me sound younger than I am. People often think Clara’s the older sister since her voice isn’t as soft as mine. That, or they think we’re twins, because we’re about the same height. I did sing in the choir at a few churches when I was younger, but I’ve never considered going anywhere with singing. I can’t think of any words or phrases I use a lot.
I don’t have any pockets to have anything in at the moment, but I don’t put things in my pockets when I do have them. My purse holds identification, any money I have–usually isn’t much–hair comb, tissues, dental floss, things like that.
If you can call it a quirk, I like to look cute. Am I too old for it yet? If I see a cute outfit, I wonder, "How will that look on me? Will it still look cute?" Is that a bad thing?
