Super intense pain in muscle=muscle building?
Question by Nick: Super intense pain in muscle=muscle building?
I have been working on my bicep muscles, I did 3 sets of 10 with 40 pound dumbbells, then 30 sets of two with 25 lbs. I drank a muscle milk and then waited about 15 mins. I tried to do a few more and it was a super intense sharp sort of heat pain in my biceps. Is that good, like I’m building mucle? Should I do more after the pain for more muscle? Advice

If you feel pain than that means that your experiencing lactic acid build up in your muscle and the chemical reactions that are taking place in them are causing that pain.if you feel it than you should not continue or you could experienced a severe injury like a torn bicep.pain is your bodies signal to stop.and pain does not= muscle gain. feeling pain does not = muscle gain. so no you should not do more or you want be doing anything for a while.if you want to build muscle than do 3 to 6 sets using a weight that is challenging for you but is something you can control and keep the range range between 6 and 12. doing 30 sets with 25 pound dumbbells will not build muscle only endurance.what you will discover by continuing to do this is that you can do it longer but you will not see change in size for your muscle.if your training a muscle properly you should feel a pump in it not a sharp pain.
