What are some efficient ways to lose weight?

Question by Rushiiee: What are some efficient ways to lose weight?
Over the winter months due to being inside and a medication I had been taking I gained about 10 to 15 pounds. Now that its summer Im looking to lose it and I’m not sure how to go about doing it. I work quite often and spend lots of time with my friends. I’m not very athletic but I would like to become more so. The only thing with the exercising is I don’t have money for a gym membership, no equipment at home and the heat makes me dizzy and not feel well. I was wondering what foods I should eat and what the best way to lose weight through exercise is (running, crunches, etc.) Im only looking to lose a little weight around my stomach and thighs. Thanks for the help:)

The best thing you can do is combine a healthy nutrition program with consistent exercise. So, let’s tackle nutrition first.

Your diet should contain no junk food (fast food, sugary sweets, fried anything, microwave meals, etc). Eat 5-6 small meals a day, 2.5-3 hours between each meal. Always eat breakfast and never eat close to bedtime. Each meal should contain 150-200 calories and come mostly from a lean meat (chicken, fish) and healthy carbohydrate (brown rice, veggies, fruits, whole grains, oats). Be sure you’re getting 6-8 cups of water a day to eliminate bloating and flush your system of free radicals. You must be strict with your diet and be proactive. The body reacts in a healthy way to consistency and poorly to sporadic changes.

Combining nutrition with exercise is the key. Be sure to have 4-5 days filled with cardio. Not “walking in the grocery store”. This cardio should be planned and you should prepare for it. Each session should be between 30 and 45 minutes in length, at a moderate intensity (right past the point of being able to hold a conversation). These sessions may be brisk walking, going up and down stairs, jogging, or swimming. Also, combine full body exercises to burn extra calories and tone up a bit. These could include squats, lunges, abdominal exercises (reverse crunches, flutter kicks, front/side planks, frog kicks), pushups (male or female style), curling jugs of milk or water, etc.

If you want results, you have to do what it takes. Staying hydrated should reduce your ‘heat symptoms’. Planning to exercise will also reduce the time you spend doing it and any other symptoms. Remember…nutrition is step one. Exercise is step two. Don’t get lazy, don’t quit till you reach your goal.

You’ll do great 🙂
