Body weight training is good for lean, toned muscle mass, while weight training is better for lifting strength and bulk. Weight lifting is great for “working” strength; if you were working in a warehouse all day and moving something like machine parts, weight lifting is a great exercise. Body weight training gives a balance of strength and endurance, and is much better suited for martial arts. Many martial artists do nothing but body weight training with great results. It’s harder to injure yourself with body weight training, it’s easier to target different areas of your body, and they require either no or minimal equipment.
