Please help! bad shoulder and love to lift weights?
Question by : Please help! bad shoulder and love to lift weights?
I’ve had a bad shoulder for over two years. I started lifting again cause I got sick of waiting for it to heal after a year. I’m very limited to biceps and triceps. can’t do any chest or shoulder workouts anymore. how can I support my shoulders to hurt less during workout.

I suggest you try using very light weights (5 lb dumbells) and do front, side, and bent over lateral raises. This will work the three (deltoids) shoulder muscles separately. It should help you get through this, or at least figure things out in a little more detail.
I had been doing these exercises with fairly heavy weights and laid off for a while. When I came back to them I experienced a rather severe pain in my right shoulder – just on the side lateral. I reduced the weight dramatically and gradually worked my way back up.
Be aware that you might have a condition that requires an operation to repair. The very light weights (you might even try them with no weight) should help you figure this out. If it hurts with no weight at all – you probably have a problem (torn cartilage or worn out socket/ball) that needs to be addressed by a surgeon.
