“weight lifting” doesn’t belong in boxing. you can do some gym workout to improve your punch, however, lifting a lot of weight will only decrease your speed and make you a slower fighter. A good boxer will rather have a faster hands than heavy hands, for example, look at mayweather,he is not a knockout artist, yet, he is a successful boxer. He out-boxed many boxers who have great power. My cousin is a prospective boxer, he is 4 and 0. His dad does not allowed him to lift weight because lifting weight can be a disater for boxers if not done correctly.

A good boxer will do push ups, pull ups, punching a heavy bag to develop some real power. I recommend asking a good conditioner if you are planning to start boxing.
