Weight Watchers really work?

Question by C Nally: Weight Watchers really work?
I just joined weight watchers today. Here was my meal today

Breakfast:
small apple (1 pt)
Lunch:
Progresso zero pt soup (0 pts)
1 cup of fresh strawberries (1 pt)
1 cup of carrots (1 cup)
I bottle of coke zero (0 pts)
Dinner:
beef stew made in the slow cooker (3 pts)
serving of white rice (4 pts)
Mt dew (3 pts)
weight watchers cheddar twists (2 pts)
water bottle (0 pts)
evening snack:
med banana (2 pts)
WW cheddar twists pack (2 pts)
bottle of water (0 pts)

So I felt like I was eating and snacking all day long with this and only used 19 points. How is it possible to lose weight while eating so much? I went to a WW meeting today and there was a man who had lost 170 pounds so I know it’s possible to lose weight on this diet — but are the people who lose weight doing something I’m not? Do you have to exercise like crazy on this diet? I just dont understand how it’s possible to lose weight when it seems like you eat a lot.

My father was able to lose 70 pounds on weight watchers – and he has kept it off for nearly 15 years now….

Its what is recommend in the cardiology department (I’m not a doctor, I do statistics) where I did my internship – so I think that says a lot.
