Question by Liz: Does lifting weights make you lose weight fast?
I’m on a diet to lose weight, I’m 265 pounds. I decide to walk and sit less, and I am getting fat legs. I went on a low carb diet a week ago, and walk more. It is tiring, and my legs get heavier. If I get this from just walking will I lose weight?

Lifting will increase your muscle mass. Muscle weighs the same as fat. You could gain muscle and from that gained muscle gain weight. So really nobody can tell you if you will lose or gain weight. Lifting will get rid of fat and build muscle, but make sure you add exercise into your routine. Running, biking, jogging, walking & swimming are great! Try to exercise at least 30 min. a day and about 4 days a week. Then try longer like 45 minutes or even an hour. I usually make sure that I exercise for at least 45 minutes each time. Don’t forgot to eat healthy! Fruits, veggies, proteins( especially if you want to build muscle), whole wheats, grains & look for food with benefits. Look For good that has vitamins. Also a very important thing is to make sure you always drink water! Water is your best friend. Trust me, make a habit of only drinking water. Some people will gain weight from lifting, but they didn’t gain fat. They gained muscle. I hope I helped (:
