Weight lifting and gaining size??

Question by Mike: Weight lifting and gaining size??
I have been lifting weights pretty heavy for 10 weeks now. I try to eat healthy and take in a decent amount of protein. I do cardio, but not so much that it would hinder growth. I have become more defined, but do not seem to be growing. Are there any “secrets”, besides steroids or growth hormones, that I can try to help me grow. I do not want a lot of growth, but would like a couple inches on chest and arms and inch or two in legs. Right now my Biceps are just over 14″ flexed, Thighs are around 23″, calfs are around 15.5″, waist is 34.5″, chest is about 42.5″. Weight is 185lb and height is 5’11”. Thanks.
I use free weights and I do not drink alcohol, but thanks.
Lazy Cat, I agree with and appreciate most of what you said, but did want to clairfy….Muscle does not turn to fat, muscle will decrease with age and you will gain more fat, but one does not “turn in to” the other.

Use free weights instead of machines. The machines do a great job of isolating the muscle group – but by using free weights you will have some “cross-over” effect.

Machines are fine for strength, but for growth you want to use the free weights when you can.
